Social Rationality and Cooperation
نویسنده
چکیده
The deenitions of cooperation to shared plans and joint intentionality have traditionally included subsidiary goals: they aim at coordinating the part of the group's action which goes beyond the control of individual intentionality. In this paper, we present a deenition of collective acting which explains goals aiming at the group's coordination as a result of the interaction of goal adoption, group utility and re-cursive modeling of BDI agents.

Obligations and Cooperation: Two Sides of Social Rationality
Even if, at first sight, deciding whether to respect obligations and coordinating cooperation seems two unrelated behaviors, they are both grounded in the social rationality of agents: in fact, they depend on the ability of predicting the actions of other agents. In this paper, we present a proposal for managing anticipatory coordination, which is used to regulate the autonomy of and to control...
متن کاملA Construct for Testing Effective Cooperation in Large-Scale Resource Social Dilemmas∗
Social dilemmas are conflicts between individual rationality and general welfare. The literature explains how to evaluate effectiveness of cooperation based on trust mechanism in small-scale social dilemmas, but how to evaluate effectiveness of cooperation mechanisms in large-scale situations remain unknown until this paper. We designed a construct to test cooperation mechanisms used to promote...
متن کاملSocial constructs and boundedly rational actors: A simulation framework
In this paper we sketch a framework for multi-actor simulation of an organization. In contrast to many approaches to multi-actor simulation, we design the actors as cognitively plausible actors. The interaction and cooperation of the actors is based on social constructs. In elaborating a cognitive perspective on actors, we use the cognitive architecture ACT-R for modelling the individual actors...
متن کاملDynamic system of strategic games
Maybe an event can't be modeled completely through one game but there is more chance with several games. With emphasis on players' rationality, we present new properties of strategic games, which result in production of other games. Here, a new attitude to modeling will be presented in game theory as dynamic system of strategic games and its some applications such as analysis of the clash betwe...
متن کاملCooperation in repeated interactions: A systematic review of Centipede game experiments, 1992–2016
Cooperation is a fundamental form of social interaction, and turn-taking reciprocity one of its most familiar manifestations. The Centipede game provides a formal model of such alternating reciprocal cooperation, but a backward induction (BI) argument appears to prove logically that instrumentally rational players would never cooperate in this way. A systematic review of experimental research r...
